Changes in City Operations for Thanksgiving Holiday

City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24 and 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday. The following city operations will be affected:

During Thanksgiving week, garbage collections for Tuesday through Thursday will be moved up a day: Tuesday on Monday, Wednesday on Tuesday and Thursday on Wednesday. Friday garbage will be collected on Monday, Nov. 28. 

Recycling collections for Monday through Wednesday of Thanksgiving week will follow the normal schedule for a blue week; Thursday & Friday collections will be postponed one day: Thursday on Friday, and Friday on Saturday. 

Monday and Tuesday yard-waste collections for Thanksgiving week will be made on Monday, Nov. 21. Wednesday collections will be made on Tuesday, and Thursday collections will be made on Wednesday.

CityLink 311, the city’s citizen service call center, will be closed on Thanksgiving Day but will be open on Friday, Nov. 25, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. During hours when CityLink is closed, non-911 emergency calls will be forwarded to on-call staff with the appropriate department. Requests for routine information or services may be submitted by email, the city website and the CityLink 311 mobile application for processing the next work day. Hanes Mill Road Solid Waste Facility will close Thanksgiving Day and will be open Nov. 25 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. as well as Saturday, Nov. 26 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The Overdale and Forum 52 yard waste facilities will be closed both days. The 3RC EnviroStation will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24, through Saturday, Nov. 26. The Old Salisbury Road Landfill will be closed Nov. 24 and 25.
