Let's work together to fight crime! The Winston-Salem Police Department is encouraging members of the community to join the fight against violence! Everyone in the community plays an important role in creating a safer environment for community members to live, work, and play in Winston-Salem. Connect Winston-Salem allows opportunities for citizens and businesses to have a significant impact in addressing the violence in the city.  Community participation will greatly enhance emergency preparedness by enabling police, fire, and public safety professionals to rapidly respond to criminal activity and better assess emergency situations. It will also enable law enforcement personnel to easily gather evidence in case of an incident. Connect Winston-Salem is a multi-faceted program to unite the community in the fight against crime by providing various methods for community members to collaborate with WSPD and be proactive in addressing violence.

"See Something, Say Something" is part of the Connect Winston-Salem initiative. The program asks community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or incidents they may witness. Citizens can anonymously submit multi-media tips to the police department by either texting pictures, text, or video to (336) 276-1717. The sender can choose to share their name, email address and location of the crime they are providing information about should they choose to do so. This number is not able to receive voice calls and is not manned 24 hours a day. Please remember to use 911 in the event of an emergency. Citizens can submit information as mentioned and may also contact CRIMESTOPPERS at 336-727-2800, regarding a possible reward for the information provided. 

The Connect Winston-Salem program also has two methods to get connected and share your camera feed, one for commercial establishments (camera sharing) and one for residential camera owners (camera registration).  Sharing/Integrating your camera system takes community security one step further, helping you get more out of your security camera investment. Camera sharing/integrating allows the Winston-Salem Police Department access to your commercially owned camera feed in case of an emergency near your location. All your cameras or some of them. You set your preferences. Sharing/integrating your feed can improve response time and help keep you safer by providing advanced details of the situation. To share/integrate your cameras, all you need is a small fususCORE device that plugs into your camera system. Once it's set up, it enables camera sharing/integration based on your settings without impacting your network. The second way to get connected via the Connect Winston-Salem Program is the camera registry program designed for residential camera owners. Through this program, residents have the option to share the location of their security cameras with the Police Department. Sharing does not mean the department will have access to your camera, and there is no additional cost involved with registering camera locations. The Police Department will not share your information with anyone else and will only contact you if a crime occurs in your neighborhood.
