Fairgrounds - June 28, 2019

The Fairgrounds Farmers Market is seeking contestants for the watermelon-eating contest it will hold as part of Gourd-geous Gourd Day on Saturday, July 13.

The NC. Society of Gourds will be displaying and selling gourd wares starting at 8 a.m. And because watermelons are a kind of gourd, at 10 a.m. the market will host a watermelon-eating contest. All contestants get a free T-shirt and the first place winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the market.

There is no fee to enter, but contestants must be 16 or older. Complete rules and the entry form are posted on the Farmers Market page. Entries must be received by July 10.

The Fairgrounds Farmers Market is Forsyth County’s longest-running source for locally raised fruits, vegetables and proteins. Market vendors also offer flowers, handmade baskets, cakes and pies, fresh baked breads, jams and jellies, honey, crafts and much more.

The market is open every Saturday year-round from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enter through the parking area off of 27th Street.
