The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public Art Commission is seeking artists to transform three bus shelters around the city with three-dimensional sculptural additions.

The project is funded by the city, which is allotting $19,999 per shelter for design, materials and installation. The city will pay for structural engineering, if needed. Up to three finalists for each site will be paid $500 to develop and make a final proposal. The deadline for submissions is Monday, May 22 at noon. 

The project is open to artists who are residents of North Carolina and are over 18 years old, or teams with one member over 18. The Public Art Commission will hold two workshops, one in person and one online, for interested artists. 

The online workshop is Monday, April 17 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. An in-person workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Clark Campbell Transportation Center at 100 W. Fifth St. For a link to the online workshop, or for questions, email: kellyb@cityofws.org.
