[ARCHIVED] Police Promotions Announced

Police Chief William Penn announced today the promotion of 27 police officers and three professional staff members. A promotion ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8.

Captain Katie Allen was promoted to assistant chief and will serve over the Field Services Bureau. She has been with the department since 2000. During her career, she has worked in the Patrol Division, the Downtown Bike Patrol, the Training Division, the Recruiting Unit, the Operations Support Division, the Special Services Division and the Professional Standards Division.

Lieutenant Jason Gates was promoted to captain and will serve as the District One commander in the Patrol Division. He has served in the Patrol Division, the Criminal Investigations Division, the Professional Standards Division and the Hazardous Devices Unit.

Lieutenant Michael Knight was promoted to captain and will serve as the District Two commander in the Patrol Division. He has been with the department for over 21 years. He has served most recently in the Criminal Investigations Division over the Special Victims Unit. 

Lieutenant David Rose was promoted to captain and will serve as the Criminal Investigations Division commander. He has served with the department since 1995 and has worked in the Patrol, Special Investigations and Criminal Investigations divisions.

To Corporal: Officers K.E. Boyd, K.M. Bruner, C.M. Cox, C.J. Dawkins, M.R. Geoghegan, A.B. Hicks, R.S. Hunter, J.R. Lay, T.B. McCormick, A.N. Norman, C.K. Robertson, T. Shu, S.S. Wells, D.L. Wylie.

To Senior Information Systems Analyst: J.W. Morton.
