Outstanding Women Leaders Committee Accepting Scholarship Applications

The Outstanding Women Leaders Program Committee is accepting applications for its 2020 Future Outstanding Women Leaders Scholarship, to be awarded next spring. Applications must be submitted by Jan. 31.

The scholarship, worth $500, will be awarded to an outstanding female high school senior in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools who demonstrates outstanding performance in academics, leadership, integrity, school service, community involvement and who shows compassionate towards others in her daily life. Scholarships may be used for the cost of undergraduate tuition, fees, room and board and other college expenses.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of Forsyth County and a high school senior.
  • Exhibit outstanding performance in academics, leadership, integrity, school service, community involvement, and show compassion towards others.
  • Maintain an unweighted GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Complete the "It's My Call/It's Our Call" alcohol and drug screening program.
  • Complete 8 hours of community service.
  • Attend a college fair.
  • Not participate in any type of bullying- verbal, physical, or cyber.
  • Contribute to a cooperative school environment.
  • Complete a 250-word essay on an assigned topic.
  • Be accepted at a community college or four-year institution.
  • Attend a personal interview with the Outstanding Women Leaders Committee if chosen as a finalist.
