Local transportation planners are in the process of updating the overall transportation plan for the Winston-Salem area over the next 25 years and are holding online meetings Tuesday and Wednesday, May 5 & 6, to solicit public input on what should be in the updated plan.

The update to the Metropolitan Transportation Plan will include transportation priorities for all forms of transportation, including cars, trucks, rail, public transit, aviation, bicycle and pedestrian. It covers Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, and parts of Davie, Davidson and Stokes counties.

The meeting on Tuesday will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. To join Tuesday’s meeting go to https://zoom.us/j/91802183173. Residents without access to a computer can phone in to the meeting by calling 1-646-558-8656 and inputting webinar ID number 918 0218 3173.

The Wednesday meeting will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. To join Wednesday’s meeting go to https://zoom.us/j/93467403689, or call 1-646 558 8656 and input webinar ID number 934 6740 3689. 

Both meetings will open with a review of transportation trends in the region, followed by an opportunity for the public to ask questions and make comments about the current state of our transportation network.

Additionally, an online survey will be posted on the website to solicit input on the region’s transportation priorities and specific issues that residents and businesses may be experiencing. 

The current plan was completed in 2015. The updated plan, to be called Making Connections 2045, will reflect changes over the past five years and go through the year 2045.
