The city is in the early stages of updating its pedestrian plan and is seeking feedback about the safety, accessibility and comfort of walking routes throughout the city for everyday and recreational trips alike.

An interactive input map has been posted at Winston-SalemWalks.com. Residents can use the map to identify areas where walking improvements are needed as well as identify key destinations that they would like to see connected by walking routes.

The Winston-Salem Pedestrian Plan, titled "Walkable Winston-Salem," will build on past efforts to create a new vision for walking throughout the city. The plan will be used to prioritize, fund and implement improvements in sidewalks, crosswalks, greenways and other pedestrian infrastructure.

Two online meetings are planned for July 7 and 15 to collect public input and provide an overview of the update process. Times and specific instructions on how to participate in the meetings will be announced at a later date. For more information about the pedestrian plan, visit Winston-SalemWalks.com.
