[ARCHIVED] Provisions Announced for Public Participation in June 15 City Council Meeting

The Winston-Salem City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed city budget for 2020-21 during its meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, June 15. The council also will hold a public hearing on proposed economic development assistance to Purple Crow/La Tortilleria and will hold its monthly public comment period during this meeting. To protect public health, all citizen participation in the meeting will be conducted by telephone. 

Citizens who wish to address the council during the meeting should call 336-734-1397 starting at 6:30 p.m. Separate waiting queues will be set up for the public hearings and the public comment period. In keeping with the standard protocol for council meetings, all speakers will be limited to three minutes. Thirty minutes will be allotted for public comments. There are no time limits for the public hearings.

The council will meet at the Benton Convention Center to allow council members and city staff to maintain social distancing. Residents can watch the meeting live on WSTV Digital Media (channel 13 on Spectrum or channel 99 on AT&T Uverse) or online through the city website or the city’s YouTube channel. To watch online, go to CityofWS.org and select the clapboard icon under the search box. There will be an option to watch live either through the website or YouTube.
