[ARCHIVED] City Council Virtual Public Hearing on Airport/Whitaker Park Plan set for September 8, 2020

Planning Board Draft Smith Reynolds Whitaker Park Strategic Plan

Since October 2019, four community meetings have been held by elected officials and planning staff with residents and business owners to produce the draft Smith Reynolds Airport/Whitaker Park Strategic Area Plan. This strategic plan provides approximately 25 recommendations to help take advantage of the assets of Smith Reynolds Airport and Whitaker Business Park (and the plan area’s proximity to the Innovation Quarter) to stimulate economic growth opportunities in the surrounding community.

The plan also recommends focus areas for potential streetscape and development improvements to help the Airport become an attractive gateway to Winston-Salem for air travelers. The strategic plan was unanimously adopted by the City-County Planning Board on March 12, 2020.  A virtual public hearing has been scheduled before the Winston-Salem City Council in September (see details below).
