The city today sent out a request for proposals for opening a full-service restaurant in the restored Union Station, at 300 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Proposals are due by Dec. 31.

Two, and potentially three, suites are available for lease. Suites 210 and 218 contain 3,795 square feet and an additional 804 square feet could be available in Suite 205.

Among the minimum conditions and requirements outlined in the RFP, bidders must have at least five years of experience in the restaurant business and commit to offering breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The city hopes to have a tenant selected by March 31, 2021 and have the restaurant open in the fall of 2021.

The full RFP, photographs and 360-degree video of the space are posted at CityofWS.org. Prospective tenants who are willing to meet the minimum conditions and requirements and would like a tour of the space should contact Kirk Bjorling at (336) 734-1291; kirkb@cityofws.org.

Union Station, which was built in 1926 and is on the National Register of Historic Places, was restored in 2018-19 its original appearance.
