[ARCHIVED] Online Workshop to Discuss Transportation Recommendations to Improve Mobility

Transportation planners will present their initial recommendations for serving the transportation needs of persons with disabilities, elderly adults and individuals with limited incomes during an online meeting at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 27.

Transportation planners recently conducted surveys and interviews as part of the process of updating the Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan for the Winston-Salem area.

The online meeting April 27 will present the survey findings and the initial recommendations for the update, based on those results. Participants will be invited to comment on the recommendations and make further suggestions, said Byron Brown, the city’s principal transportation planner.

“At this meeting we’ll dig in further to some of the transportation issues shared with our team and discuss emerging recommendations to improve the transit needs of the elderly, the poor and the disabled,” Brown said. “Our goal is to create a more inclusive, seamless regional transit system so that they can more easily get to where they want to and need to go.”

The updated plan is designed to coordinate the efforts of human service agencies, public transit agencies and private transportation providers to better serve persons with disabilities, individuals with limited incomes and elderly adults in Forsyth County and adjacent portions of Davidson, Davie and Stokes counties.
