Liberty Street Urban Farmers Market Open for the Season

The Liberty Street Urban Farmers Market, at 1551 N. Liberty St.,(Map Link) is now open from 4 to 6 p.m. every first and third Fridays of the month through October 15.

Customers can buy fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs and a variety of other products. The market accepts SNAP EBT cards for purchases.

At the next market day, on July 2, a representative from the city’s Community Development Department will be present to provide information and answer questions about the Cleveland Avenue Choice Neighborhoods Initiative, a multi-year project to replace the existing Cleveland Avenue Homes public housing and improve the surrounding area.

Also at the market July 2 will be representatives of the Workforce Development program at the Piedmont Triad Regional Council with their mobile career center and NCWorks job seeker resources. Those looking to apply for a job on-site or learn more about resources for education and support needed to get started in their next career will have the opportunity to utilize computer stations and have any questions answered by staff.

Applications to sell at the market are still being accepted, and there is no cost to apply. Urban farmers and community gardeners are encouraged to apply. Prospective sellers can pick up an application at the market or find the application online at CityofWS.org/libertystmarket. Sellers who are growing within five miles of the market will have priority, but growers outside of this area are welcome too.
