[ARCHIVED] Salem Lake Playground and Boat Ramp Closing for Phase II improvements

The Salem Lake boat ramp, along with the playground and parking lot next to it, will be closed to the public starting Monday, Aug. 2, to allow for construction of the phase II improvements to Salem Lake Park. Construction is estimated to take 10 to 12 months. Pier fishing, kayak rentals and the Salem Lake trail will remain open to the public. Individuals will be allowed to launch paddle craft from a designated area but they will have to carry their watercraft from the parking lot to the launch area. Phase II improvements include renovating the shoreline bulkhead, rebuilding the boat ramp, adding kayak storage and boat slips and building a picnic shelter near the playground. City voters approved $3.7 million for the improvements in the 2018 bond referendum.
