[ARCHIVED] Winston-Salem Fairgrounds To Host ACCHL Championship Tournament

The Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League Championship Tournament is returning to the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex this Friday through Sunday, Feb. 18-20.

The tournament will feature eight men’s teams competing for the Admiral’s Cup, along with a women’s tournament featuring two semifinal games and a championship game. Masks are required inside the annex.

The men’s quarterfinals will be played Friday, Feb. 18. The scheduled is: Noon, No. 8 seed George Washington vs. No. 1 Virginia Tech; 3 p.m., No. 5 West Virginia vs. No. 4 Wake Forest; 6 p.m., No. 6 UNC Wilmington vs. No. 3 N.C. State; and 9 p.m., No. 7 UNC vs. No. 2 Georgetown. 

On Saturday, the women’s No. 4 seed George Washington plays No. 1 Virginia Tech at noon and No. 3 seed N.C. State plays No. 2 seed Georgetown at 2:30 p.m. The men’s semifinal games will be played at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. 

On Sunday the women’s championship will be at 11 a.m. and the men’s championship will be at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for the full tournament or $10 per day and are on sale at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Box Office. 

This year’s ACCHL Championship Tournament is sponsored by the Carolina Thunderbirds, the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds and Wake Forest University’s hockey program.  This is the fourth year the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds has hosted the annual tournament. Robert Mulhearn, the city’s public assembly facilities manager said, “We are excited and proud to continue hosting this tournament with the Thunderbirds & Wake Forest Hockey. It has become an important event for the city and at the fairgrounds.”
